How to Cancel Sling TV

Have you ever come across an online series platform that allows you to cancel your subscription before its validity ends? Wouldn’t it be easier if viewers were allowed to unsubscribe to a streaming service when they wish to? This will allow users to have subscriptions only when they have time for the shows. The good news is that similar to Netflix, HBO Max, and Hulu, you can cancel Sling TV subscriptions too.
What is Sling TV?
Like any other OTT platform, Sling TV provides access to a variety of shows, series, and movies without any external equipment.
This was actually the first app-based TV service that enables streaming of live TV and on-demand content with the use of the internet. It is a subsidiary of its parent company, dish Network. It was founded on February 9, 2015, when online streaming services became popular.
Sling TV not only allows its users to cancel the subscription, but you can also change the subscription in the middle of the billing cycle and pause the subscription anytime.
How to Cancel Sling TV
Do you want to cancel your Sling TV subscription midway? Are you addicted to binge-watching shows on streaming channels? If things are getting out of your control and you can’t seem to take hold of your everyday routine, you may be thinking of canceling a Sling TV subscription.
It is super easy to cancel a Sling TV subscription. There are no complicated steps involved. Here are some of the steps to be followed.
Step 1 – Sign In to Your Account
Go to the Sling TV official website. Go to the Sign In button found on the top right corner of the screen. Once you are signed in to your account, click on the Settings icon (gear icon) found at the top right corner of the screen. Now, click on ‘Manage Account’ found beside the Sign Out option.
You will be redirected to the My Account page.
Step 2 – Select Cancel Subscription
You will find the Cancel subscription option within the Your Subscription box. Click on the option and you will be redirected to ‘Choose what services you’d like to cancel below’.
Uncheck the Sling TV subscription under the subscription summary. In the end, click on the ‘Cancel All’ button at the bottom of the page.
You will not be redirected to the Cancel subscription page. Here Sling asks the user why they want to cancel the subscription. The reasons mentioned include
- Too expensive
- Missing shows or channels
- Found a better offer elsewhere
- Technical issues
- Temporary- I’ll be back
When you select a reason, another prompt will appear on the screen. Just click on Continue Cancel.
Step 3: Confirm Cancellation
Thereafter, on the next page, click on ‘Confirm Cancellation.’
Your subscription is canceled page will appear on the screen. It is not over yet. They will send an email confirmation to your registered email id.
Step 4 – Check Email for Confirmation
Change your device tab and open your email. You will find an email sent by Sling to confirm your subscription. This is an email confirmation that your Sling subscription has been canceled. This is sent just right away, but Sling still says you need to wait for at least 3 hours if you haven’t received the email immediately.
After this, your subscription is canceled.
If you are a first-time Sling user and are on a free trial, your service ends automatically, and you can no longer access the services.
However, if you have a paid service, you can access the shows for the current billing cycle even after canceling the subscription.
In short follow, sign in > Settings > manage my account > Cancel my subscription > Cancel All > select a reason > Continue cancel > confirm Cancellation.
How to Change Your Sling TV Subscription
After you sign in to your Sling TV account from the web browser and manage my account, you will be forwarded to my Account page.
This is where you will find both options, cancel my subscription or change my subscription.
In this case, you need to click on the blue button with Change Subscription written on top under the Your subscription box.
- You will be redirected to Edit your subscription page
- This page will list all the current Sling subscription offers.
- The basic Sling TV packages are labeled under Blue and Orange, whereas Standalone and Latino subscriptions know advanced packages.
- To know the details of each package, click on Show more below each package.
- If you want to purchase a package, press Select or Add seen in front of each package.
- You will know the package is selected if it shows a yellow tick mark. To uncheck it, click on it again.
- Finally, when you have decided which package you want to shift to, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Review.
- You will be redirected to the Review your Order page.
- This page will show the breakdown of your package and the new monthly total you will now have to pay.
- If you are satisfied with the order, click on submit Order at the bottom.
You can now enjoy watching the shows as per the new subscription package.
In short follow Sign In > Settings > Manage account settings > Change subscription> Select/Add the package > Review > Submit Order.
That’s it! It is quick and easy to change your subscription on Sling TV.
How To Pause Sling TV Subscription?
To pause or freeze your Sling TV subscription, you will sign in to your Sling TV account. Go to Settings > Manage account settings> Cancel Subscription> Pause my subscription.

Final Thoughts
You can cancel your Sling TV subscription at any time. You can also change it anytime and shift to a more advanced or cheaper version.
However, before canceling your Sling TV subscription, you should know that Sling does not provide refunds for its prepaid services. The amount will not be refunded for the remaining months of service. For this reason, even after cancellation, you can still choose to view the shows until the renewal date.
