How to Cancel Subscriptions on iPhone

Posted by in Save Money | Updated on August 26, 2022

We love subscribing to things on our iPhones, but sometimes we subscribe to one too many. Next thing you know, your monthly payments are eating up a significant chunk of your income – and a bigger part of your time.

Whatever your reasons, there are many scenarios where unsubscribing from a service is the right thing to do.

In this article, we will discuss everything you need to know about how to cancel subscriptions on iPhone.

What are iPhone Subscriptions?

It seems that one day, we just woke up to a world where everyone we know is subscribed to a service.

The subscription model has been around for quite some time, but it was only in recent years that it has truly boomed in popularity.

The basic structure of this business model is simple: users pay a certain amount periodically in exchange for a service.

Today, there are many types of subscriptions that we know and love. Netflix, Spotify, YouTube Premium, and Disney+ are just some of the household name subscription services that almost everybody has in their lives.

There are plenty more services like this to be discovered, whether for work, leisure, or anything in between. There are even language apps that people can use to communicate more effectively.

Benefits of a Subscription

Subscriptions are great and all, but why are they so prevalent nowadays?

Developers and companies love the subscription business model because it produces a regular revenue stream. Unlike sales of software services that vary per season, a subscription is usually a long-term commitment. In fact, developers are always enticing customers to purchase a longer subscription by providing a bigger bonus the longer the subscription is.

The reason for this is that subscriptions give various app makers the ability to increase the scale of their operations and enhance their products, thanks to the extra budget.

In other words, the subscription model allows creators to shift their focus from acquiring new customers to keeping existing ones.

On the other hand, many customers also enjoy the subscription model for a few key reasons.

The first is that it lowers the barrier of entry for availing of a service. Instead of paying a huge amount upfront for a specific service they want to keep, this expense is split into manageable chunks.

What’s more, customers have the option to easily cancel their subscriptions at any time, unlike buying products where you will be stuck with them until they become obsolete.

A subscription model is also more palatable for many customers because they don’t have to worry about paying for updates and newer versions of the app. With a subscription, you can be sure that you’re always receiving the updated version of the product, no matter how much time has passed.

Thanks to the many benefits of the subscription model, it’s no surprise that it’s among developers’ top preferred business models.

As a result, the Apple App Store is full of apps and services that are subscription-based – and it’s all too easy to oversubscribe. In the following sections, we’re going to teach you how you can unsubscribe from iPhone subscriptions that you don’t want to use anymore.
